Pakistani Startup BuyPass.ai Secures Angel Investment to Revolutionize eCommerce Across GCC and Asia

October 2024BuyPass.ai, a stealth-mode startup based in Pakistan, has successfully closed an angel funding round, setting the stage to reshape the eCommerce landscape across the GCC and Asia. The venture is founded by Muhammad Ammar Hassan, a former executive at OLX (Prosus) and Daraz (Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group), who brings over a decade of experience in launching and scaling C2C and B2C platforms across multiple markets.

Ammar’s deep insights into the inefficiencies of both traditional and eCommerce ecosystems have laid the foundation for BuyPass, a platform dedicated to merging online and offline commerce using innovative technology. The angel round was co-led and facilitated by UAE-based entrepreneur Umair Masoom, a seasoned Pakistani business leader who has previously raised over $30 million from renowned VCs in the US, EU, and GCC.

Masoom will join Ammar as a Founding Partner and Board Member, contributing his expertise in international growth and capital strategy. His involvement signals a strong commitment to scaling BuyPass into a global player.

Vision for BuyPass

BuyPass aims to address the gaps in traditional commerce by digitizing offline shopping and services sectors. With its proprietary technology, the platform aspires to become a “digital superapp,” offering consumers a one-stop solution for shopping and services powered by AI tools. By integrating advanced technology with robust local operations, BuyPass envisions building a product-led company capable of transforming daily consumer experiences through innovative engineering.

“We are thrilled to have secured the funding to kick off our journey and to have the right strategic backers in place,” said Ammar Hassan, Founder and CEO of BuyPass. “Their expertise and guidance will be invaluable as we continue to grow and scale our business.”

Masoom echoed this excitement, stating, “Ammar is one of the most exceptional young business leaders I have come across in my professional journey. I am confident that the business model of BuyPass is going to disrupt the current digital commerce and application layer landscape in our core markets.”

Future Plans

The seed funding will primarily be directed towards product development, building the technological framework, and establishing BuyPass’s commercial infrastructure. While the startup remains in stealth mode, it plans to unveil its products and services by June 2025, targeting consumers who seek technology-driven solutions for their shopping and service needs.

BuyPass is poised to redefine the future of eCommerce by merging the best of both worlds—online and offline—through innovative digital solutions, ultimately equipping users to do more in their everyday lives.
