Karachi, April 29, 2025 — Pakistan’s banking sector is witnessing a major reshuffle as new quarterly results reveal significant shifts in profitability rankings. According to financial disclosures for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, United Bank Limited (UBL) has overtaken Meezan Bank to become the most profitable bank in the country.
UBL reported an impressive profit of PKR 36.1 billion for Q1 2025, marking a new leadership position in the sector. Meezan Bank, which had previously led profitability charts, secured the second spot with PKR 22.4 billion in earnings.
Another major development was the strong comeback by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), which posted a profit of PKR 22.1 billion, enabling it to surpass both MCB Bank and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to claim the third position.
