JazzCash boosts Digital Payments with Google Wallet in Pakistan

KARACHI: JazzCash customers can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet, allowing over 13 million monthly active users to make secure and seamless tap-to-pay transactions. This integration transforms smartphones into convenient payment tools, enabling effortless person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions.

The collaboration with Google Wallet further strengthens JazzCash’s comprehensive suite of payment options, which already includes QR payments, tap-to-pay services, online payments, and debit cards. Customers can link three compatible debit cards to Google Wallet: the Mastercard Debit Card, the Women’s Debit Card, and the Virtual Debit Card. While the virtual card can be instantly set up through the JazzCash app, physical cards can be requested via the app or USSD for a one-time issuance fee.

Aamir Aftab, Chief Product Officer of JazzCash, emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing financial inclusion through innovation.

“By collaborating with Google Wallet, we are building an open and interoperable ecosystem that empowers millions of Pakistanis with secure and seamless digital payment solutions. Partnerships like these are vital in making financial services accessible to all and fostering a cashless economy,” he stated.

Adding a JazzCash debit card to Google Wallet is a quick and simple process. Once linked, users can make payments by unlocking their smartphone and holding it near a payment terminal. This feature enhances convenience for millions of Pakistanis who rely on JazzCash for their everyday financial needs.

Google Wallet provides multiple layers of security through tokenization technology, replacing sensitive card data with a unique, device-specific virtual card number. This ensures that even if intercepted, the token cannot be used for fraudulent transactions.

Additionally, users can further protect their accounts using ‘Find My Device’, enabling them to lock their phone or erase personal information remotely in case of theft or loss.
