VEON and Jazz Focus on Financial Services, Data Centers, Software, and Cloud for Pakistan’s Digital Transformation in Meeting with PM – Fintech News Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, November 08, 2024 – Senior leaders from VEON Group, joined by executives from Jazz, recently met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss strategic investment initiatives aimed at accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation. The meeting covered key areas including banking, financial services, data centers, software, and cloud infrastructure, all positioned as drivers for the country’s economic modernization.

The delegation was led by VEON Group Founder & Chairman Augie K. Fabela and included Group CEO Kaan Terzioğlu, Group Director of Corporate Affairs Marine Babayan, Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim, and Jazz’s Chief Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Officer Syed Fakhar Ahmed.

As Pakistan’s largest foreign investor, VEON, alongside its digital services provider Jazz, reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan as a pivotal growth market. Jazz, which has evolved from a telecom operator into a tech-driven ServiceCo, has been at the forefront of fostering digital inclusion and technological innovation.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on Jazz’s substantial contributions to financial inclusion in Pakistan, especially through its work to provide secure and accessible financial services to millions of unbanked and underserved citizens. Jazz has also made significant investments in data centers, software, and cloud solutions to build a robust digital infrastructure across the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged Jazz’s efforts in driving Pakistan’s digital progress, highlighting the company’s role in enhancing economic empowerment through technology. He commended VEON and Jazz for their contributions to the digital landscape, emphasizing that such strategic investments are critical for Pakistan’s journey toward a modern, tech-enabled economy.
