San Francisco, October 9, 2024 — Stripe, a leading financial infrastructure platform, today announced an expanded partnership with NVIDIA, aimed at advancing AI technology to benefit Stripe’s customers and improve fraud detection. The collaboration will also broaden global access to NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GPUs and AI software, allowing developers and enterprises to prepay for selected NVIDIA cloud services through Stripe.
Patrick Collison, Stripe’s co-founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the deepened relationship. “NVIDIA is one of the companies we most admire: they set the standard for innovation, long-term vision, and agility. We’re thrilled to strengthen our long-standing partnership,” said Collison. “As NVIDIA well understands, the current pace of change offers immense untapped potential to democratize access to cutting-edge AI technology.”
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, echoed these sentiments. “AI is progressing at an extraordinary pace, and businesses worldwide are racing to integrate its value into daily operations. Stripe was an early adopter of NVIDIA’s AI platform and is now an industry leader in enabling global businesses to leverage AI for growth,” said Huang.
Accelerating Stripe’s AI Capabilities
Stripe, which processes over a trillion dollars annually, has long relied on NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform to train its machine learning models. With NVIDIA’s AI tools, Stripe continues to power innovative products like its Optimized Checkout Suite, used by companies such as OpenAI, Slack, and River Island to optimize checkout flows with AI-powered suggestions. By using machine learning, Stripe intelligently determines the best payment methods to display for each customer, increasing conversion rates and improving the customer experience.
Stripe’s Radar system, which is integral to detecting and preventing fraud, also benefits from NVIDIA’s AI platform. Earlier this year, Stripe introduced Radar Assistant, an AI-powered tool that allows businesses to easily create new fraud rules using natural language prompts. Additionally, developers are now empowered to build and iterate faster on Stripe’s Railyard platform using NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs.
Supporting the AI Industry
Stripe’s suite of tools has increasingly become essential for AI-driven companies. “At Stripe, we’ve been focused on building functionality tailored to AI products,” said Collison. “This includes usage-based billing to manage inference costs, Link for higher-converting checkouts, and support for a broader array of local payment methods, given that many AI products are global from day one.” Stripe Billing has seen significant adoption among AI companies, underscoring the synergy between AI innovation and Stripe’s robust payment infrastructure.
A Vision for the Future
The collaboration was also highlighted at Stripe Sessions 2024, the company’s annual user conference, where Huang and Collison engaged in a fireside chat. Their discussion covered a range of topics, including the leadership challenges of high-growth organizations and the transformative potential of AI in what Huang called a “new industrial revolution.”
By combining forces, Stripe and NVIDIA are poised to accelerate AI’s adoption across industries, improving everything from fraud detection to enterprise innovation. Together, they aim to unlock new growth opportunities for businesses worldwide.
