Visa, a global digital payments company, and easypaisa Digital Bank have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at expanding card-based digital transactions across Pakistan and international markets, the companies said on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, the two sides will strengthen collaboration to increase the issuance and usage of Visa-branded debit and credit cards, with a focus on enabling secure and seamless transactions across physical and digital merchant channels.
As part of the partnership, easypaisa Digital Bank plans to enhance the cardholder experience through the introduction of premium debit cards, credit cards and cross-border payment initiatives.
The collaboration also seeks to promote greater use of cards for international transactions across point-of-sale (POS), e-commerce and ATM channels.
The agreement further includes joint initiatives in marketing, customer activation, merchant enablement, training and technology enhancements to support wider card acceptance and usage.
Commenting on the development, Jahanzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of easypaisa Digital Bank, said the partnership would allow the bank to leverage Visa’s global payment network, advanced transaction processing capabilities and security standards to deliver seamless payment experiences and expand merchant acceptance nationwide.
Umar S. Khan, Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan at Visa, said Pakistan’s transition towards digital payments was accelerating, adding that easypaisa’s scale—serving nearly one in every five Pakistanis—highlighted the potential for broader adoption of digital payment solutions.
Through the collaboration, both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital payments ecosystem, promoting financial inclusion and supporting the development of a secure and cash-lite economy.
easypaisa Digital Bank currently serves around one in every five Pakistanis, with women accounting for 31 percent of its user base. The platform processed over 4.5 billion transactions in 2025, valued at more than Rs15 trillion, approximately 13 percent of Pakistan’s gross domestic product.
easypaisa is Pakistan’s first digital bank and is backed by Telenor Group and Ant Group.
