KARACHI – Pakistan’s leading fintech platform, JazzCash, has announced an ambitious goal to empower more than 300,000 women-led businesses and women freelancers by the end of 2027. This initiative underscores JazzCash’s commitment to recognizing the pivotal role women play in driving economic productivity and innovation in Pakistan.
Currently serving over 44 million customers, JazzCash has doubled its female customer base to 30% over the past three years and aims to increase this to 50% in the coming years, promoting greater gender parity in financial inclusion. The platform facilitates 118,000 daily digital loans, with 25% directly benefiting women.
“Today, over 100,000 women freelancers and women-led businesses rely on JazzCash for their financial needs. Our goal is to triple this number to 300,000 by 2027,” said Murtaza Ali, President of JazzCash. He emphasized the transformative impact of JazzCash’s hassle-free loans in helping women overcome economic challenges, mitigate social risks, and strengthen their small and medium-sized businesses.
Driving Economic Resilience
Murtaza highlighted that JazzCash is focused on fostering economic resilience for women through tailored financial solutions that promote savings and increased participation in financial activities. “Our initiatives empower women to confidently utilize financial services, supported by programs encouraging active account usage,” he added.
Beyond financial services, JazzCash has introduced several programs to build a thriving ecosystem for women entrepreneurs. These include:
- Partnerships with women-led enterprises.
- Integration of women micro-entrepreneurs into its merchant network.
- Mentorship programs and essential business resources tailored for women in traditionally male-dominated industries.
Strategic Collaborations and Financial Literacy
JazzCash recently collaborated with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), aiming to alleviate poverty and improve living standards for women. Under this partnership, JazzCash will disburse Rs78 billion to 1.3 million women beneficiaries across Pakistan by the end of 2025. To date, the platform has successfully transferred Rs15 billion to beneficiaries in Hyderabad, Matiari, and Rahim Yar Khan.
The fintech company is also prioritizing financial literacy, conducting educational workshops and outreach programs to enhance women’s understanding of financial management and investment strategies.
