In a landmark development aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan, the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP) at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has forged a strategic collaboration with U Microfinance Bank (U Bank). This partnership aims to leverage NSTP’s flagship programmes, including the Hatch8 Incubation Programme and the Rising Stars Startup Competition.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sealing this collaboration was signed by Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, Rector of NUST, and Mohamed Essa Al Taheri, President & CEO of U Bank, in a ceremony held recently.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mohamed Essa Al Taheri highlighted the innovative fin-tech initiatives undertaken by U Bank and lauded NUST for its nation-building efforts, world-class educational facilities, and its role in nurturing diverse talent to drive positive societal change.
In response, Rector NUST expressed appreciation for U Bank’s commitment and professionalism, expressing confidence that this partnership would significantly contribute to nurturing the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
The collaboration extends beyond entrepreneurial endeavors, as both parties discussed strategies to enhance student, parent, and staff well-being. One notable initiative is the establishment of an endowment fund aimed at supporting underprivileged students.
