Amir Khan Elected as Chairman of Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) – Fintech News Pakistan

Amir Khan, President & CEO of HBL Microfinance Bank LTD., has been elected as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN). Bringing with him over 32 years of diverse experience in consumer and commercial banking, Mr. Khan is set to lead PMN towards further growth and innovation in the microfinance sector.

Since 2012, Amir Khan has been at the helm of HBL Microfinance Bank LTD., positioning it as one of the leading microfinance institutions in Pakistan. He is also an active Executive Committee Member and Chairperson of the Subcommittee for Microfinance Banks at the Pakistan Banks’ Association, as well as a Member of the Microfinance Consultative Group. His long-standing association with PMN, where he has served as a Director since 2012 and previously chaired PMN’s Board of Directors Policy Committee, highlights his ongoing commitment to the development of microfinance in the country.

Mr. Khan’s illustrious career includes leadership roles at Standard Chartered, ABN AMRO Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland Business, and as CEO of Mobilink Microfinance Bank Ltd (formerly Waseela Microfinance Bank), where he played a pivotal role in setting up and establishing the bank as a key player in the microfinance industry.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
Mohsin Ahmed, CEO of PMN, welcomed Amir Khan‘s appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the network towards even greater achievements, stating: “We believe that Mr. Khan’s extensive experience in the microfinance sector will significantly benefit PMN and its member organizations as we work towards strengthening financial inclusion in Pakistan.”

In his opening remarks to the Board of Directors, Mr. Khan expressed his gratitude to Kabeer Naqvi FCCA, BFP ACA, the outgoing Chairman, for his invaluable contributions to the sector. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among member organizations, stating, “A viable and growing sector can only be built if we work together, share challenges, and develop future strategies under the PMN platform.”

Amir Khan‘s leadership is expected to bring a renewed focus on hashtag#innovation, financial inclusion, and the continued growth of Pakistan’s microfinance sector.
